Kumasi Ignites: GDIW 2025 Showcases Innovation and Technology in the Ashanti Region

Ashanti Region hosts a dynamic edition of GDIW 2025, uniting innovators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore how emerging technologies can drive Ghana’s inclusive digital future.

The Ashanti Region came alive with innovation, collaboration, and creativity as Ghana Digital Innovation Week (GDIW) 2025 made its vibrant stop in Kumasi. Hosted by hapaSpace Collaborative Hub at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, the event brought together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, students, and creative minds for an unforgettable experience of ideas, insight, and inspiration.

Held under the theme “Catalysing for Change: Emerging Technologies at the Forefront of Innovation and Digital Transformation,” the Kumasi edition explored how digital tools and localised innovation are shaping Ghana’s path toward sustainable development.

The day opened with a thought-provoking conversation on “Localising Digital Policy: Closing the Gaps for Regional Innovation,” where experts discussed policies that empower grassroots innovators and bridge regional disparities in access to technology. From policy to practice, participants shared actionable strategies to foster inclusive digital growth across the country.

The exhibition floor buzzed with creativity, showcasing handcrafted designs, tech-driven solutions, and innovative consumer products. Each display reflected the Ashanti Region’s powerful blend of tradition and technology — a testament to the creativity and entrepreneurial drive fueling Ghana’s innovation landscape.

Throughout the day, the energy inside Prempeh Assembly Hall was electric. Networking sessions, panel discussions, and live exhibitions celebrated local talent and practical innovation, while emphasising the importance of collaboration among digital hubs, the private sector, and government institutions in strengthening Ghana’s innovation ecosystem.

As one speaker aptly noted, “If talent is abundant, then our policies must rise to meet opportunity.” That sentiment echoed the spirit of the day — a call to action for inclusive digital transformation that starts from the ground up.

As the sun set over Kumasi, it was clear that the Ashanti Region continues to stand as a beacon of creativity, enterprise, and technological growth.
