GDIW 2025 Launches with National Call to Catalyse and Sustain Innovation

GDIW25-Launch
GDIW 2025

The fifth (5th) edition of the Ghana Digital Innovation Week (GDIW 2025) has officially been launched in Accra under the theme “Catalysing Change: Innovation and Digital Transformation at the Centre of Ghana’s Development Agenda.” The event brought together policymakers, development partners, startups, digital entrepreneurs, and key ecosystem players in a show of collective commitment to Ghana’s digital future.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, the launch highlighted government’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for digital transformation through strategic investments in infrastructure, youth digital skills, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

“We remain committed to building the digital rails upon which transformation can happen,” the Minister noted. “From broadband expansion and e-government services to the rollout of digital ID systems, the real power of transformation lies in our people and platforms—the startups, innovators, and partnerships that give meaning to innovation.”

Now in its fifth year, GDIW has evolved from a convening event into a platform driving collaboration, dialogue, and action across sectors and regions. The Minister called for the institutionalization of GDIW to ensure it remains ecosystem-led, sustainably financed, and aligned with long-term national goals such as the Digital Economy Policy and Ghana Vision 2030.

Also addressing the gathering on behalf of the GDIW Consortium Partners comprising the Ghana Hubs Network, Impact Investing Ghana, and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, Chairperson of Ghana Hubs Network, underscored the growing urgency to turn innovation into measurable outcomes for all.

“Since 2021, GDIW has served as a beacon of collaboration, reflection, and renewal within Ghana’s innovation space,” Mr. Adu-Gyamfi said. “This year’s theme signals maturity in our ecosystem, one that moves beyond ideas to focus on systems, jobs, and impact”. He added that GDIW is a national call to action where ideas meet investment, policy meets people, and innovation meets opportunity.

The Consortium reiterated its commitment to building a digitally inclusive and innovation-driven Ghana, through policy advocacy, investment readiness support, and amplifying innovations from communities across the country.

The event marks the beginning of a series of nationwide engagements, exhibitions, and conversations that will culminate in the main GDIW celebrations happening on November 12-14, 2025 at the Accra International Conference Center. Participants have been urged to not only celebrate innovation, but to embed it into all aspects of national development, from agriculture and education to health and climate resilience.

As Ghana looks to the digital future, GDIW remains a strategic platform for unlocking the potential of digital technology in achieving inclusive growth and sustainable development
