Takoradi Ignites Ghana’s Digital Innovation Week 2025
From bold ideas to real solutions, the Western Region sets the tone for a nationwide innovation journey.

The Ghana Digital Innovation Week (GDIW) 2025 regional tour kicked off in Takoradi with a dynamic week of learning, collaboration, and creativity. Hosted across key city venues, the Takoradi edition, hosted by Duapa Werkspace, brought together some of Ghana’s brightest entrepreneurs, innovators, and digital enthusiasts to explore how technology and entrepreneurship can shape a more inclusive digital future.
Inaugurated in 2021 under the auspices of the Vice President of Ghana, GDIW is a nationwide initiative that celebrates milestones in Ghana’s digital innovation ecosystem. Co-hosted by Impact Investing Ghana, the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme, and the Ghana Hubs Network, GDIW connects private sector players, policymakers, academia, development partners, and civil society organizations in driving a shared vision for Ghana’s digital transformation.
The week began with an inspiring two-day Start-Up Bootcamp, where participants immersed themselves in hands-on sessions on business model innovation, digital transformation, and circular economy practices. Young entrepreneurs and professionals from across the Western Region honed their entrepreneurial mindset and digital skills through engaging workshops and team activities.
Led by experts including Erasmus Mensah-Ackon, Sharon Ekua Payne, and David Nkansah, participants gained practical insights into turning ideas into scalable ventures, mastering the art of pitching, and building meaningful connections. The energy was electric—by the end of the Bootcamp, participants left with new skills, stronger networks, and renewed confidence to take their ideas forward.
From Ideas to Impact: The Hackathon
The momentum continued with the Hackathon—a two-day challenge that brought together developers, artisans, and MSMEs to create digital solutions addressing real-world problems in the Western Region. Guided by mentors from AmaliTech, the Coding Ladies Club, and other ecosystem partners, participants transformed their ideas into working prototypes focused on digital transformation and job visibility.
What started as brainstorming sessions evolved into tangible solutions with the potential to make lasting community impact. The collaboration and innovation on display highlighted the spirit of Ghana’s growing tech ecosystem—creative, determined, and forward-looking.
The Takoradi edition culminated in the GDIW Main Event at the Takoradi Mall—a vibrant celebration of innovation and collaboration. Entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders from across Ghana gathered to exchange ideas, explore partnerships, and discuss the future of digital transformation.
Through panel discussions, startup showcases, and interactive networking sessions, participants explored themes of sustainability, inclusivity, and technology adoption. The energy and enthusiasm underscored Takoradi’s growing influence as a hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
From the first pitch to the final showcase, Takoradi demonstrated that when innovation meets opportunity, ideas become impact—and Ghana’s digital future shines even brighter from the Western Region. By blending mentorship, learning, and hands-on problem-solving, the event empowered young people and businesses to create impactful solutions for Ghana’s digital economy.
